Love the distance races at HQ, and with the track looking to get to a Good 4 later in the day we should see the better-rated runners having every chance. Decent enough field quality and no notable speed, the better-rated runners look to come from the middle of the field. We will know by race 7 whether this is the better going. Few of Waller’s cellar-dwellers here to look out for, but really like the looks of Aussie Nugget and Nobu. Aussie Nugget has rated very highly in his last few starts without saluting, and he looks to get the ideal race today with the scratching of Sikorsky. McNeil in good form and you can see him letting go at the 400m and hitting his straps in the closing stages. Nobu is the danger, but given the lack of pace in the race, he might need too much luck. Numbers are strong for Southern Rock and Star Missile, all need to go into the multiples.
