WESTY’S RACE PREVIEW

Moonee Valley 27/10/2018

Moonee Valley Race 3

Huge excitement about racing today. More data then you know what to do with at this stage of the spring, and Race 3 finds a Weir runner against a highly fancied Godolphin mare and a McEvoy mare we liked last spring. The SFR suggests that Mrs Gardenia has a half-length advantage on this field, and should settle midfield off a moderate tempo. She doesn’t mind the mile and has won at the valley before. What supports this further is that Damion Lane places 46% of his races at this trip. It’s a tight race with low data quality, but Darren Weir.

Mrs Gardenia each way

Moonee Valley Race 7

The Crystal Mile has always been a favorite, and this year’s edition hosts some of the biggest names in Weight for Age racing. Strong field quality rating of +2.1 and strong data for the Sydney runners, which always makes it interesting on a non preferred tighter turning track. You’d think that jockeys make a difference when needing to change the balance, and we will stick with Damion Lane again. 46% place record at this trip, and fresh off a good run from Mrs Gardenia he should be reading the track like it was yesterday. Carrying the same weight and his main rivals rise in weight from previous runs. Going well this prep, and the hoop gives the horse every chance when steering from midfield. Or Weir might be too good. That’s why they give you odds.

It’s Somewhat each way.
