Race 7, N8 Imperatriz – Could not have been anymore impressive winning past 3 starts in New Zealand and looks to strike another very winnable race here in Australia. Looks likely to roll forward from gate 7 and enjoy a nice run on the speed. Has the highest SFR (Statfreaks Rating) in this race and the 5th highest SFR at the meeting. James McDonald is also going at a strong 33%-win strike rate when on favourites and this is his best ride at the meeting as per our SFR. With most of his rivals here resuming Imperatriz looks to have a fitness edge on his side which makes him one of James McDonalds better chances for the day.
Race 8, N3 Aft Cabin – Looking to bounce back after beaten as a short priced favourite last start and finds himself in a suitable race. Rises to 1600m which shouldn’t be an issue and with a soft lead will prove very hard to run down late. Has the highest SFR in this race and the 4th highest SFR at the meeting. James McDonald also teams up with the J.Cummings yard, together they are going at a 20%-win strike rate Trainer/Jockey combo. He is also going at an impressive 40%-win strike rate when on leaders and a 25%-win strike rate in middle distance races making Aft Cabin a deserved favourite in one of the feature races at the meeting.
